Ahu Sönmez

Architect

She was born in Germany in 1995. She started her primary education in Germany and continued at Aydın Private Başak College in Turkey. She completed her high school education at Aydın Süleyman Demirel Anatolian High School. In 2017, she graduated from Faculty of Architecture at Yaşar University. Through Comenius Program, she participated in a student exchange program in Italy. During her education, she engaged in various workshops such as CartogrEphesus at the ancient city of Ephesus and “Come on The Road with Izmir History Project: Kemeraltı-Kadifekale Bicycle Workshop”. In the summer of 2016, she worked at Colonial Williamsburg in the United States through Work and Travel program.

She has been working as an architect at TARKEM since March 2018. While continuing her professional career, she completed the Cultural Heritage and Tourism program at Anadolu University in 2020. She is currently continuing her master’s degree education in the Restoration program within the Department of Architecture at Dokuz Eylül University.

She aims to continue her education and professional career on the protection of cultural heritage, bringing it to life by re-functioning and transferring it to the future.
